The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme is a Japanese-government-sponsored exchange program that offers university graduates opportunities to work in Japan as either an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in public schools or a Coordinator of International Relations (CIR) in select municipal government offices in Japan. The JET Programme offers one-year contracts which are extendible up to five years, annual salary increases, a round-trip flight to Japan, and much more.
With 50 participating countries from around the world, Canada is the third biggest provider of participants, sending Canadians to Japan to work for over 35 years. JET participants gain valuable work and life experience while having the opportunity to be fully immersed in Japanese daily life and culture. With this program, people from around the world can live, work, and experience Japan from a local lens!
