Prepare for the Fair: Preparing for Interviews

What you will get out of it: Learn skills and strategies to help you prepare for upcoming interviews and connect with professionals through the use of informational interviews. 
Location: Online via Zoom 

Prepare for the Fall Career & Networking Fair on October 15 by exploring two main concepts that can contribute to your career success: Preparing for job interviews and connecting with professionals using informational interviews. 

In the lead up to the fair, discover interview strategies that will assist you in pursuing full-time, part-time, and co-op roles, or post-graduation jobs. During the workshop, you will learn about:

Job Interviews: 

  • Purpose of an interview
  • Interview questions and formats
  • Interview preparation strategies
  • Things to remember during an interview
  • Interview follow-up

Informational Interviews:

  • Informational interviews as a networking tool (and how they differ from regular interviews)
  • Types of questions to ask during an informational interview
  • Approaching professionals and setting up an informational interview

What to Expect

This workshop will consist of PowerPoint slides (visible via a shared screen), instructional videos, interactive polls and discussion questions, and electronic handouts that will be shared via the Zoom chat feature.

How to Prepare

  • Ensure your Zoom account is up to date, your electronic device is charged, and your internet connection is reliable.
  • Register for the Fall Career & Networking Fair on October 15 and other Prepare for the Fair events. 
  • Research the employers you would like to speak to at the Fall Career & Networking Fair. 

How to Attend

Register for this session on this mySuccess event post. On October 8, registered participants will receive a Zoom link two hours before the workshop begins. The link will only allow one sign-in attempt per device.
