Who this is for: Open to all students and recent grads interested in a career in Mainframe.
What you will get out of it: Learn more about a career in mainframe and IBM Z technology, get introduced to the IBM Z Xplore platform, meet professionals in the Ottawa area currently using the IBM Z technology.

IBM Z is the branch of IBM that develops the mainframe. Mainframe computers are super powerful machines designed to process millions of transactions a day hyper efficiently with an intense focus on security and uptime. These transactions are bank withdrawals, online purchases, and so much more! The companies that are powered by IBM Z machines are amongst the largest companies in the world. From the world's leading banks to nearly every airline, mainframes make the financial world go round. These companies are looking for new main framers to fill their talent pipelines! Come join us to learn more about this essential technology and how you can start learning the industry-relevant skills on IBM Z Xplore to land a job in this industry.

IBM Z Skills - About the Mainframe Career Depot:
The Mainframe Career Depot establishes a two-way career marketplace for employers and job-seeking candidates to connect with one another. This platform will provide employers to showcase their companies in a way that helps job seekers better understand the landscape of companies leveraging the mainframe and looking for skills.
How it works - Get started today:
- Earn your IBM Z Xplore Concepts Badge by completing all Fundamental Challenges and at least two Concepts Challenges
- Register for the Mainframe Career Depot as an individual
- Complete your profile and upload your latest resume
To participate, all job-seeking candidates must earn the IBM Z Xplore Concepts Badge. This badge demonstrates the minimum competency for employers to exclusively connect with candidates who have a foundational knowledge and understanding of the IBM Z ecosystem platform including hands-on skills.

Connect directly with mainframe employers:
You will be able to learn more about the many companies who use mainframes to run their business. Explore their company profiles and reach out directly with any listed contact information.
Explore open job postings:
Employers will regularly be posting open job roles that they are looking to fill. You will receive a weekly email with any new job roles posted to your country.
Stand out:
Employers will be able to search and filter through all candidates based on a myriad of factors including your country, openness to relocation, graduation date, and more. The more information you provide for employers to search and filter, the better. Be sure to include as many details as possible when crafting your resume.

- Listen to presenters and view a multimedia presentation.
- The presentation will likely include a live demonstration of the IBM Z Xplore platform, which you can follow along with on your device.
How to Prepare
- Research IBM Z, IBM Z Xplore. Learn more about each items at the following links:
- Be prepared for interactive portions of the session. Have a laptop or device with you that you are comfortable using to follow along with live web platform demonstrations.
- Get your resume updated prior to the IBM career fair! Consider visiting Career Services (401 Tory Building) for a review of your resume; drop-in hours are Monday-Friday 1-4pm.
- Dress for success! Plan to dress as if you were going to a job interview. It is recommended to wear business casual for this type of event.
