What you will get out of it: Learn how to prepare your documents and complete your application before applying to graduate school or professional programs.
Location: Online via Zoom
Thinking about graduate school or professional programs? Getting ready to apply? Not sure where to start? Career Services is here to help! This virtual session is open to both current students and alumni regardless of your career goals and where you are at in the exploration or application process.
During this workshop, you will learn about:
- The difference between personal statement and letter of intent criteria (main focus of the workshop)
- The difference between resume and CV and how to use it appropriately
- Standardized tests in the preparation process (and receive resources)
- How to prepare and write a strong personal statement and letter of intent
- How to secure a professional and/or academic reference for applications
- How to book a follow up directly with Career Counsellor to review their personal statement/letter of intent and receive support and feedback
How to Attend
Register on this mySuccess event post. On October 1, those who register for this session will be sent a Zoom link 1.5 hours before the start of the workshop. The link will only allow one sign-in attempt per device.
What to Expect
This workshop will consist of PowerPoint slides (visible via a shared screen), interactive polls and resources and questions shared in the Zoom chat.
How to Prepare and Additional Recommendations
Have some idea of graduate or professional program you are considering and have begun researching requirements.
Ensure your Zoom account is up to date, your electronic device is charged, and your internet connection is reliable.
You may want to attend Part 1 workshop first, consider registering for Applying to Graduate and Professional Studies Workshop - Part 1: What Do I Need to Know?, taking place via Zoom on September 17. This session will cover things to consider before applying to graduate or professional studies, how to effectively research and compare schools and requirements and how Career Services can help you in considering graduate and professional studies. Please note that you can attend one or both sessions depending on your needs and schedule.
